"But very little had been done to look at the impact on physical health." Sweet's team analyzed a study that followed a group of young adults over a 15 year period. They were able to use data that included information about both personal debt and health for 8,400 people. They found that household debt was a significant predictor of health. They focused on all personal debt except home mortgages, including student loans, credit cards, auto loans, and medical or legal bills (student loans make up the greatest proportion of these types of debt, especially for young people). Since this group had been enrolled in the study for a number of years already, researchers were able to control for pre-existing health conditions. They also controlled for demographic factors like race, income, and pre-existing psychiatric conditions. People who owed more had higher levels of stress and depression and worse overall health, particularly if they owed more than they owned (a home was not included on the assets side, just as a mortgage was not included on the debt side).

"I really admire what those people do in New York because they really move aggressively on these problems," Cedillo says. But in L.A., a city that's trying to balance its budget, the money simply isn't available: "We don't have those types of resources to commit to housing," he says. Cedillo has been lobbying for a state bill that would raise $500 million a year for affordable housing by charging a fee on real estate transactions, but the measure seems unlikely to pass. That means that now, for first time in three decades, there are virtually no state funds available for affordable housing in California. Bad Everywhere Los Angeles is one of the most expensive rental markets in the country, but the problem isn't just in California. Across the country, rental prices have risen as wages have stagnated. Chris Herbert is the director of research at Harvard's Joint Center for Housing Studies.

excel named ranges trick Creating health platforms has been a laborious process for both Google and Apple, sources say. Among the complications: the concern over privacy and how best toprocess information as sensitive as health data, as well as how to provide valuable feedback without veering into the realm of FDA-regulated diagnosis. Google has been in this field before with Google Health, which also acted as a health portal butwas shut down in 2012. Google Health never took off because consumers actually dont want to aggregate their data, says Derek Newell, CEO of digital health care platform Jiff. They havent wanted to. What they want is information. They want meaning, rewards and a feedback loop. Google maywant its new health platform to tie in with Android Wear, a version of Googles Android mobile operating system thats built for smart watches and other wearable devices. This way, someone wearing two or three wearable devices that run on Android Wear could have disparately collected data like steps, heart rate and temperature, aggregated by Google Fit as a central collection point.
